FHS emerges 2nd runners up in annual varsity sports day

The Faculty of Health Sciences emerged 2nd runners up in this year’s University of Nairobi annual sports day.

The teams comprising of both staff and students commonly known as Team Afya, had an impressive performance during the games.

Team Afya won gold medals in chess (women) and rugby; silver medals in netball and chess (men), and bronze medals in hockey, basketball, swimming and athletics.

Government sponsored students set for admission at Faculty of Health Sciences

The list of students admitted to pursue different programmes at the University of Nairobi Faculty of Health Sciences for the Academic Year 2022/2023.

The students were placed to study at the University of Nairobi by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

FHS soars after stellar performance during University awards

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FSH) produced outstanding results during the University of Nairobi 3rd Prize Presentation Ceremony held on 6th May, 2022.

It was all cheers as FHS dominated the prize recipients list for the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic years.

The awards ranged from gold medals, cash prizes and trophies from over 100 donors and partners.

FHS scientists dominate Alper-Doger Scientific Index 2022 rankings

Scientists from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) have dominated the list of best scientists according to the latest Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index 2022 rankings.

Among the scientists who appeared in the top 100 list are the late Prof. Elizabeth Ngugi, Prof. Walter Jaoko, Prof. Ruth Nduati, Dr. Manasi Kumar,  Prof. Omu Anzala, and David Ndetei.

Vice Chancellor meets FHS staff

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama was on a two-day visit to the Faculty of Health Sciences(FHS) to meet and engage members of staff at the faculty.

On Monday 31 January, 2022, the VC visited the Department of Pharmacy and Dental Sciences, while on Tuesday 1st February, 2022, he visited the Department of Medicine and Nursing respectively.  

UoN receives CDC grant combat antimicrobial resistance and other infectious disease threats

The University of Nairobi is among 28 organizations that have received funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to combat antimicrobial resistance and other healthcare threats through the establishment of the Global Action in Healthcare Network (GAIHN) and the Global Antimicrobial Resistance Laboratory and Response Network (Global AR Lab & Response Network) that cover more than 50 countries worldwide.

UoN and KNH succesfully hold International Conference on Health

The University of Nairobi Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) held the 5th International Conference on Health (ICH 2021) from 27th to 29th October 2021. 

The virtual conference brought together leading healthcare practitioners and intellectual leaders from Kenya and around the world.

Defence Forces Medical Training School benchmarks at FHS

Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) Dean Prof. James Machoki hosted a team of officers from the Defence Forces Medical Training School who were on a benchmarking tour at the Faculty.

The Defence Forces Medical Training School is a medical training facility in the Kenya Defence Forces and is in the process of transitioning into a College of Health Sciences, a constituent College of the National Defence University- Kenya (NDU-K).
