The First Aid Club – University of Nairobi
Where Skill Meets Service
The First Aid Club, University of Nairobi, is a registered student association at the University of Nairobi, established in November 2023. It is a vibrant, student-led platform that redefines healthcare training – transforming it from theory-based learning into an elite, hands-on journey right from year one of undergraduate medical training. Our members are equipped not only to excel in examinations but to step into clinics, communities, and leadership spaces with confidence, compassion, innovation, and adaptability.
We address existing gaps in healthcare education caused by limited infrastructure and scarce experiential opportunities, which have led to:
• Delayed and insufficient practical exposure
• Minimal engagement with real-world healthcare challenges
• Limited mentorship and professional development.
To bridge these gaps, the Club drives its mission through three core pillars:
1. Emergency Preparedness and Response
2. Community Development and Impact Projects
3. Soft Skills, Leadership, and Professional Development Workshops
Vision, Values & Inclusivity
Grounded in the values of leadership through service, integrity, clinical excellence, ethical collaboration, resilience, empowerment, and community impact, the Club fosters a space where every student thrives. We are deeply conscious of the diverse student population, including first-generation scholars, international students, and first-in-family medical trainees, and their unique circumstances. Our initiatives intentionally promote equity, access, and inclusion, ensuring that all members can access competitive skilling, electives, and global opportunities beyond the limited curriculum.
When you support us, you’re empowering a generation of service-driven, skill-equipped healthcare leaders who elevate, live, and inspire change.
