The Dean Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. George Osanjo held talks with Prof. Olayinka Ogunleye from the Lagos State University College of Medicine.
The talks revolved around establishing a good collaboration between students from the University of Nairobi, Faculty of Health Sciences and students from Lagos state university of medicine who are pursuing pharmacy in order to interact and share knowledge that flows from the corridors of the department of pharmacy.
The two also discussed how to come up with a strategy to engage with other universities around Africa that offer pharmacology program. Thoughts were shared on transforming the department of pharmacy by ensuring there is an update and alignment of the pharmacy curricula that can meet international standards.
During the meeting, emphasis was made on how to engage interprofessional education to foster collaboration with other healthcare professionals hence establishing and strengthening research focused on pharmacology, drug development and public health.
They also agreed to come up with ways on how to foster partnerships with global pharmaceutical institutions thus receiving grants and funds that can help students in research projects and publications.
