Department of Human Pathology celebrates its retirees

The department of human pathology held an appreciation event for their staff who have recently retired from the department. The event which was held on 8th march 2024 brought together post graduate students, members of staff and the retirees for a session of merry as they bid them farewell.

The eleven retirees made significant contributions to the department which spearheaded its growth from a unit to an entire department over the years since the founding of the university medical school in the 1970’s.

The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. George Osanjo was in attendance. He appreciated the good work and endless efforts of the retirees. The Department chair Dr. Peter Maturi also congratulated the retirees in their retirement and appreciated them for their significant contribution to the department.

Prof. Kungu, former department chair who is among the pioneers of human pathology as we know it today at the university was also invited to the event as a retiree. He was much praised for his significant contributions to the country through research. He taught many other pathologists who are carrying on the legacy in different sectors in the country.
