Prof. Kosgei appointed Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies

Prof. Rose Jepchumba Kosgei, newly appointed Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences.

The University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ayub N. Gitau, has appointed Prof. Rose Jepchumba Kosgei as Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, Faculty of Health Sciences, effective 4th May 2026 for a three-year term.

Prof. Kosgei takes over from Prof. Fredrick C. F. Otieno, whose term as Associate Dean, Undergraduate Studies, came to an end after dedicated service to the Faculty. The Faculty appreciates Prof. Otieno's leadership and contribution to strengthening undergraduate training and academic programmes during his tenure.

An accomplished obstetrician, gynecologist, gynecologic oncologist, researcher, and senior lectuter, Prof. Kosgei serves in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Nairobi. She is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Programme, with extensive experience in teaching, research, clinical practice, and academic leadership.

She holds a PhD in Health Sciences from Ghent University, Belgium, a Master's degree in Clinical Trials from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and advanced specialist training in Gynecologic Oncology. Her work has significantly contributed to women's health research, medical education, and health policy development both nationally and internationally.

Throughout her career, Prof. Kosgei has distinguished herself through excellence in research, mentorship, and service, earning recognition for her contributions to maternal health, gynecologic oncology, and healthcare capacity building.

As she assumes this new leadership role, the Faculty of Health Sciences looks forward to benefiting from her wealth of experience and commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student success.
