The University of Nairobi Faculty of Health Sciences warmly welcomed five exchange students from Yamaguchi University, Japan as part of an ongoing collaboration between the two institutions.

The Dean of the Faculty Prof. George Osanjo officially received the students and gave them an overview of the UoN’s rich history, academic programs, and contributions to health sciences training and research in Kenya and the region.

He highlighted the Faculty’s role in producing world-class professionals in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry, and allied health sciences.

Prof. Osanjo encouraged the visiting students to immerse themselves fully in the UoN experience, interacting with local students, sharing knowledge, and exploring Kenya’s vibrant culture.

As part of the program, the visiting students made a presentation about Yamaguchi University, showcasing its pioneering spirit, strong foundation in medicine, nursing, and laboratory sciences, and its cutting-edge research initiatives such as AI systems in medicine, big data applications, and CAR-T cell therapy.

They also highlighted the university’s heritage, including Nobel Laureate Professor Tasuku Honjo, an alumnus of Yamaguchi, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in 2018 for his groundbreaking discovery of PD-1 in cancer therapy.
