College embarks on drive to plant 500 trees

College of Health Sciences Principal Prof. James Machoki leads staff and students in tree planting drive.

College of Health Sciences (CHS) Principal, Prof. James Machoki led staff and students in a drive to plant 500 trees at Kenyatta Campus on 18th May, 2021.

The tree planting exercise was carried out simultaneously in seven sites at the University of Nairobi (UoN).

At CHS, staff and students planted various tree species that were provided by Equity Bank Group in partnership with Kenya Forest Service (KFS).

According to Peter Karuga, Equity Bank’s Business Growth and Development Manager, the bank plans to plant 35 million trees countrywide in support of the government's agenda to increase the national tree cover to 10% by 2022.

On his part, Prof. Machoki hailed the partnership between UoN and Equity aimed at planting trees to conserve the environment.

KFS representative, John Ouko urged the staff and students to plant trees at their homes and communities as part of contribution to government’s agenda to increase forest cover.
