University of Nairobi’s (UoN) Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) received a delegation from Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) from South Africa, on 19th May 2026 for a benchmarking session.
The UoN-FHS delegation led by Associate Dean Undergraduate Studies, Prof. C.F Otieno presented a detailed presentation on the faculty’s student academic support strategies that facilitate the faculty’s success in delivering scholarly success.
The presentation provided an overview into the structures and support systems that make UoN-FHS a world-class institution like; strategic objectives & policies guidelines, student academic support structure, organogram and personnel & their roles.
Leading the team from SMU, Dr. Joshua Maliavusa also gave an overview of operations and student academic support systems of their university, with the two teams bouncing off ideas and recommendations on adoption and improving of their respective structures.
In attendance from the faculty was FHS Registrar Dr. Zipporah Magaki, Department of Surgery Chair Dr. Opot Nyaim and FHS Coordinator of exchange programs, Ms. Beldine Ogutu.
