It was a big day for the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) as it shone brightly at the University of Nairobi (UoN) Performance Contracting and Staff Recognition Awards FY 2020/2021 ceremony.
The event which was held at Taifa Hall on March 23, 2022 was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama.
The ceremony brought together the UoN community to recognize and award outstanding staff and departments in various categories namely; performance contracting, research and innovation, long service, staff performance and special recognition.
In the performance contracting awards category, the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology was best overall performing unit and best performing teaching department while the Department of Pediatrics and Child Health emerged as the most improved department.
Four researchers from FHS were awarded for their registered inventions in the research and innovation awards category, they include; Dr. Susan W. Maina, Dr. Sylvia Atiso Opanga, Prof. Fredrick Were, and Dr. Shital Maru.
In the staff performance awards category, Dr. Moses Madadi Obimbo was position 1 followed by Dr. Daniel Kinyuru Ojuka, Prof. George Omondi Oyoo was third in teaching staff category.
In non-teaching staff category, Mr. Julius Ndiritu Irungu was top while Mr. Meshack Omolo Juma, Ms. Faith Mwanzui Muluki, Ms. Pollyn Turfena Mulanya, and Ms. Beatrice Omweri all tied at position 2.
Mr. Jacob Omondi Otete emerged top in non-teaching staff in grades 2-4.
Dr. Loice Achieng received the Vice-Chancellor’s special recognition award.
