The 8th CB Madan Prize and Memorial Lecture

The School of Law invites you to the 8th CB Madan Prize and Memorial Lecture on the Rule of Law and Development, which will be delivered by His Excellency Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, Governor of Makueni County and a former dean of the School of Law. The lecture will form part of the intellectual discourse that the University is having to commemorate its 50th anniversary.

During the event, the post-doctoral legal scholars of the University of Nairobi's School of Law will be awarded the 8th CB Madan Prize of 2020 for their commitment and outstanding scholarly contribution to constitutionalism and the rule of law in Kenya.

The CB Madan Prize is awarded by the Platform Magazine to individuals who have demonstrated significant effort to support constitutionalism and the rule of law. It is the most prestigious legal award in the country and former recipients of the award include: Hon. Chief Justice David Maraga (2017); former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga (2016); Hon. Lady Justice Mumbi Ngugi (2018); and Hon. Mr. Justice John Michael Khamoni (2015).

 

The recipients of this year’s prize are the Bachelor of Laws alumni who have attained their Doctor of Philosophy degrees (PhDs) between 1970 and 2020. Kindly find attached the CB Madan Citation for the Post-Doctoral Legal Scholars, which was published in the November and December issues of the Platform Magazine.

Apart from advancing public policy goals of societal transformation, the CB Madan Memorial Lecture will bring together distinguished scholars and stakeholders who have been promoting the rule of law in the last 50 years.
