Berlin-Nairobi Global HEART Program

On Monday 19th June 2023 a team from Charité University Berlin German paid a visit to the University of Nairobi Faculty of Health sciences.

The two universities have been in collaboration since 2016. Through their joint program dubbed Berlin-Nairobi Global HEART program they have successfully conducted exchange programs for students. Furthermore there has been an introduction of joint research papers for Kenyan and German students.

The Global HEART program combines health research, exchange and training for Kenyan and German students. It aims at promoting collaboration and exchange on global health research topics between Charité University and University of Nairobi.

The Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. George Osanjo welcomed the visitors from Germany. The talks during the courtesy call revolved around expanding the number of students for exchange programs.
The team's visit was action packed and intensive discussions on expanding the Global HEART program reach. The two universities had a workshop for supervisors of the program. The workshop involved discussions on grant writing through familiarising with the rules and regulations of each of the universities to get better insight on seeking funds to propel the program's goals. 

Research being a key pillar for both universities, a research symposium was in order. The event had the new partnering researchers presenting briefly on their research papers. Emerging trends and areas of interest in the contemporary medical world were mentioned in these thesis including Antimicrobial Resistance which is a serious global issue.
