FHS scoops best performing faculty award

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) emerged the best performing faculty during the University of Nairobi annual performance contract signing and staff recognition awards held on 27th November, 2023.

The two in one event had the top officials signing their performance contracts in the presence of other members of faculty and staff. The ceremony marked an important step in ensuring high standards of service delivery to clients of the University.

The staff recognition awards are a culmination of the past year’s performance of each of them as an individual, department and faculty. Members of staff from different faculties and departments were awarded based on their scores from their 2022/2023 performance contracts.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama emphasized on the importance of the performance contract as a tool to ensure delivery of the best services and maintaining the university brand as a world class university. He also noted on the importance of rewarding the best performing parties as a way of motivating staff.

"The introduction of performance contracting in Kenya aimed to establish performance measurements, clarify corporate objectives, embrace customer orientation, and foster a focus on productivity & cost reduction to enhance service delivery," Prof. Kiama stated.

Chair of Council, Prof. Amukowa Anangwe was the chief guest at the auspicious event. He recognized the hard-work and efforts of the staff to make the University the prestigious space it is today.

 "Teamwork and harmony are vital to our success. We must work collectively towards a shared vision. We are all part of the University of Nairobi community,” said Prof. Anangwe.

The Faculty Dean, Prof. George Osanjo received the trophy for the Best performing faculty. The faculty archived a very good score with a total composite score of 2.6247.
