Great Zimbabwe University benchmarking tour

Prof. Rungano Jonas Zvobgo and Prof. Jacob Mufunda tour KAVI laboratory.

Faculty of Health Sciences acting Dean, Prof. Eveline Wagaiyu hosted Prof. Rungano Jonas Zvobgo, the Vice Chancellor of Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) on Thursday 02 June, 2022.

Prof. Zvobgo was accompanied by Prof. Jacob Mufunda, Dean School of Medical and Health Sciences at GZU.

The two professors visited the Faculty of Health Sciences to familiarize themselves about the programs offered at the Faculty as well as getting to know how they are taught.

Prof. Zvobgo said GZU is in the process of beginning to teach a medicine course and were happy to benchmark with UoN which is a credible institution.

“We are ready to learn so that we don't make mistakes. We are here to collect information and learn how systems work at the University. We want to learn about things that have been tried and tested and be able to produce doctors who are able to treat our people,” Prof. Zvobgo said.

On his part, Prof. Mufunda said he was happy to benchmark with a reputable institution and would like to engage more as they look forward to start teaching medicine.

Prof. Wagaiyu assured Prof. Zvobgo and  Prof. Jacob Mufunda of full support as they plan to start teaching the course.

The visitors met with various chairs of Departments at FHS and also toured laboratories where they got to sample laboratory equipment used in teaching and research.
