Innovative University Practice: First Aid Club Research Team Gathers Unending Praises at The Nairobi Innovation Week 2025 – (12th Edition)

First Aid Club Research Team at The 3rd Annual International Conference on Educational Management, Policy, and Curriculum Studies.

The conference panellists – 3rd Annual International Conference on Educational Management, Policy, and Curriculum Studies – applauded the groundbreaking student-led initiative at the heart of the First Aid Club, University of Nairobi – Faculty of Health Sciences.

This recognition came after the club’s research team delivered a powerful presentation on 23rd October 2025, showcasing how the club is redefining medical education. Their model? A hands-on, experiential learning approach – rooted in a modified Kolb’s experiential learning model – introduced as early as the freshman year and sustained throughout medical training. No waiting until clinical years – students learn by doing, from day one.

The team highlighted the profound impact of immersing students in real community health challenges. Participants who engaged in these initiatives demonstrated stronger professional identity formation and higher satisfaction in developing social accountability skills. They emphasized that universities must not only teach but also innovate contextually – using local insights to solve local and global health challenges.

As academia evolves, the First Aid Club is positioning itself at the forefront of growth, impact, and curriculum policy influence. Their mission: to prove that student-led initiatives can leverage minimal resources to deliver world-class experiential training – at a fraction of the usual cost.

The club extends its heartfelt gratitude to its dedicated research team for their outstanding work – and to its unwavering patron, Dr. Nyaim Elly, whose support continues to make all the difference.
