Pain and palliative care workshop by KEHPCA and University of Nairobi

Pain management is key in delivering quality health care for patients. This was the
main message during a training conducted by Kenya Hospice and Palliative Care
Association(KEHPCA) on Pain and palliative care. The hybrid training saw more than
100 participants in attendance.
The training targeted this year's finalists to equip them with palliative care
knowledge to deliver better care for their patients as they head out for their
internships.
Prof. Cheserem opened the training officially. She encouraged the finalists to attend
more trainings such as this that will equip them with skills to be better clinicians.
The training was intense and covered a wide range of topics on palliative care. Dr.
David Musyoki of KEHPCA led the session speaking on areas that require palliative
care.
"Pain is subjective." Dr. Esther Muinga said during her presentation on Pain
assessment. She educated the participants on the different tools used to measure
and assess pain in patients of different ages and abilities.
The training was crowned by a question and answer session that allowed the
participants share and learn from the experts.
