The 6th International Conference on Health (ICH 2023) was held on 12th and 13th October 2023 at the Lecture Theatre III, at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
This was the first time that the conference was held in a hybrid session. It attracted at least 100 participants in person and more than 150 attendees online.
The event attracted 160 abstracts with 69 of them being presented orally. The topics varied from oral health to Oncology and pediatric Healthcare.
The Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. George Osanjo, congratulated the researchers for their immense efforts in improving Healthcare provision and experience through data collection and analysis.
Chief guest Benard Lang- Directorate of digital health policy and research representing the CS of Health had very positive remarks for the visible efforts being made by both the Kenyatta National Hospital and the University of Nairobi in improving the health care sector of the country.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the Vice Chancellor represented by Director Research Prof. Justus Munyoki.
In His speech he was keen to highlight the importance of research and it being at the center of the university of Nairobi. He applauded the Faculty at large for producing the highest number of abstracts yet, across all faculties to be presented in one occasion.
"Both institutions pride themselves in research to improve medical and scientific progress in Kenya," The CEO of Kenyatta National Hospital represented by Dr.Irene remarked in her opening speech.
The conference came just a week prior to the commencement of the University of Nairobi Research week which brings together researchers in different conferences for presentation and discussions of research papers.
The conference not only provided a platform for the researchers to present their work but also a chance to be added on the repository for citation publication.
