Face shields donation.
The Operating Theatre Practitioners Association of Kenya (OTPAK) donated 200 face shields to the University of Nairobi (UoN) College of Health Sciences Principal, Prof. James Machoki.
The face shields were handed over to Prof. Machoki on 12th May, 2020 by OTPAK Chairman Prof. Pankaj Jani, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine. UoN.
Prof. Jani said OTPAK raised funds with the support from family, friends and other donors to locally make face shields to protect frontline healthcare workers as they fight coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
While receiving the donation, Prof. Machoki thanked Prof. Jani for kind the kind gesture and the caring heart for the healthcare workers as they battle COVID-19.
He said the shields will be used by both staff and postgraduate students who continue to offer services at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) during this pandemic.
Present during the event were Dr. Julius Kiboi (Department of Surgery Chairman), Dr. Daniel Ojuka (Lecturer in the Department of Surgery) and postgraduate students attached to KNH.
