UoN and Wondfo Biotech set to renew strategic partnership

The Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, Prof. Daniel Ojuka held a consultative meeting with officials from Wondfo Biotech to review the successful collaboration between the two institutions and discuss its renewal.

Wondfo Biotech was represented by their Global Technical Director Mr. Leo Xu and the Wondfo East African Director Mr. Bear Xiong. Other attendees were the collaboration co-leads Dr. Parmens Okemwa and Dr. Francis Wanyama. The Unit of Clinical Chemistry where the Skills Center Lab is domiciled was represented by the Unit Head, Dr. Zakayo Thaimuta.

The Wondfo Biotech delegation commended the university for the productive partnership, noting its significant contribution to the training of laboratory professionals across Kenya. They also highlighted the staff exchange programme, which has enabled UoN staff members to undertake short exchanges in China, fostering knowledge transfer and international collaboration.

The delegation also highlighted their future plan of investing in research of infectious diseases and application of AI in medical diagnostics through the partnership. Mr. Bear informed the meeting that the current MoU has lapsed and expressed the company's commitment to renewing the partnership for another three-year term.
