The College of Health Sciences (CHS) COVID-19 Response and Research Committee held inaugural virtual research forum on 7^th July, 2020.

The main objective of holding the session was to discuss research being conducted at CHS towards COVID-19 response.

There are several exciting research projects lined up for presentation during the sessions that will be held every Tuesday from 9am to 10am.

Catch up with Dr. Loice Ombajo, a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi and Head of Infectious Disease Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) interview on Citizen Television.

Dr. Ombajo has been on the frontline of case management at KNH since Kenya reported the first coronavirus (COVID-19) case in March 2020.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) School of Dental Sciences (SDS) received a donation of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic containment items on 23^rd June, 2020.

The University Health Services (UHS) also benefited from the donation as it continues to offer services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The novel corona virus pandemic is behaving like a big river whose flow can be slowed for some time by building dams. Building dams holds back the water but if heavy rains continue even the dam is unable to hold all the water and the excess either spills over causing damage or it is released in a controlled manner. This appears to have been the underlying principle when the Covid-19 pandemic public health campaigns were designed in the United Kingdom (UK).

The spread of covid-19 will soon be under control all over the world and economies will open up fully for social and business interactions. It has been predicted by World Health Organization (WHO) that the disease will become endemic which means that Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures must become a continuous process to prevent recurrence or outbreaks.

Covid-19 pandemic will sooner or later be controlled but it is anticipated to become endemic in some parts of the world. The infection prevention and control measures which have been instituted should therefore not be abandoned.

The Operating Theatre Practitioners Association of Kenya (OTPAK) donated 200 face shields to the University of Nairobi (UoN) College of Health Sciences Principal, Prof. James Machoki.

The face shields were handed over to Prof. Machoki on 12^th May, 2020 by OTPAK Chairman Prof. Pankaj Jani, who is also a lecturer in the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine. UoN.

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in more business transactions, classes, lectures and different types of meetings being conducted via online platforms. Some people are still on the learning curve with regard to use of these relatively new channel as well as how to conduct themselves when participating in whichever way. Online etiquette or netiquette is the set of rules that is recommended for online communication.

Medical experts from the University of Nairobi (UoN) are set to conduct clinical trials for three possible coronavirus disease (COVID-19) drugs.

The covid-19 pandemic which has ravaged the world in 2020 will be remembered for having caused many unfortunate deaths around the world. In days to come, it will also be remembered for other bad things as well as some good effects in social life and in industries such as education.
